My name is Mandy and I am a fully qualified primary school teacher of 18 years and a qualified NNEB of 30+ years.

My philosophy is that all children have the potential to achieve and make progress, regardless of present achievements or neurodiverse needs. Children need time and the opportunity to digest what has been taught and then to confidently consolidate that piece of knowledge through further explorations of that given concept.

Over the span of my teaching career I have had the privilege of teaching children from EYFS up to KS4 , in state schools, SEND schools and also an Independent SEMH school.

Children develop at their own pace, and like us as adults, are strong in some subjects and need extra time in other subjects to understand concepts that are being taught. Children are unique individuals, so therefore their learning journey should be unique too – at their pace and level.

My mantra is ‘one step at a time’ to develop  engagement, resilience and achievement.

Sadly, this is not always achievable in school on a daily basis due to the content that is covered in class and the pace and scope of the curriculum to be taught. This pace and amount of content can have a detrimental impact on a child’s progress where they can become overwhelmed and therefore disengage with learning due to becoming ‘lost’, which then adversely affects their confidence, self-worth and mental health.

My aim is to rekindle children’s ‘thirst for knowledge’ where learning is a positive experience so that confidence, progress and self-esteem increases with each lesson.

Private tuition is a ‘safety’ net’ where children can blossom to reach their academic potential. I teach children at their pace and can identify gaps in knowledge and plan lessons to ensure that their understanding and knowledge is consolidated before moving on to another concept.

I offer a bespoke service where your child’s needs are met through set activities, fun, laughter and homework (if requested) to consolidate the learning objective being taught during their lesson. For your child to reach their full potential we will work in partnership – your child, parents/carers and myself – to ensure that needs and gaps in knowledge is addressed for their academic and social success.
